TOWNSVILLE KYOKUSHIN KARATE
Sensei Brian Barclay
Sensei Brian first commenced his journey in Kyokushin in April 1976 in Geelong Victoria at the Corio Dojo. Since that time he has been fortunate enough to have trained with and been trained by some of the legends of Kyokushin, Including world recognised Instructors from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hawaii, Brazil, Denmark, Canada and Spain. Sensei Brian is registered as a Qualified Black belt in Kyokushin Karate since 1992 with the IKO ( International Karate Organisation) in Japan.
The Townsville Dojo was started in July 2004 when Sensei Brian moved away from Victoria.
Senpai Leah Haar
Senpai Leah first commenced her journey in Kyokushin in October 2008 at the Townsville Dojo.
Sempai Leah had completed a few years in Ashihara Karate as a teenager back in the late 1990's.
Since her time at the Townsville Dojo she has been dedicated and determined in her training which has seen her achieve Multiple QLD state championships, Multiple Victorian titles, multiple Australian Titles and placed 3rd in the World Titles. Senpai Leah is registered as a Qualified Black belt in Kyokushin Karate since November 2016 with the IKO (International Karate Organisation) in Japan.
Senpai Craig Wurr
Senpai Craig first commenced his journey in Kyokushin in 2012 at the Townsville Dojo.
Sempai Craig has competed in multiple Kyokushin titles.Since his time at the Townsville Dojo he has been dedicated and determined in his training which has seen
him receive "Queensland fighter of the day" in 2015, 1st place in the New Zealand 50th anniversay tournament in 2019 and has achieve multiple placings in the South Pacific Kyokushin championships. Australian Champion in open lightweight division and other podium places through-out the years.
Senpai Craig is registered as a Qualified Black belt in Kyokushin Karate since December 2022 with the IKO (International Karate Organisation) in Japan.
